Help Tell the Story of Inverclyde's Lost Cinemas and Picture Houses

We're gathering memories of local film experiences to preserve our film heritage.

Get Involved!

  • Submit your stories, photos, and memorabilia.

  • Join our film heritage group and be part of this exciting project.

  • Research and showcase Inverclyde’s links to the film industry.

  • Contribute to a community documentary film.

As part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded Reel Reflections project, we are excited to announce that we will be producing a community documentary that will reflect on Inverclyde’s film heritage. This documentary will be a collaborative effort, featuring the personal stories, photographs, and memorabilia submitted by our project volunteers and members of the community. By participating, you’ll help us paint a vivid picture of Inverclyde’s unique relationship with the film industry and cinema culture over the years.

We are offering exciting opportunities for people to get involved in the filming process. Whether you have a knack for researching, writing, storytelling, filmmaking, storyboarding or simply want to share your memories on camera, your contribution can help present Inverclyde on the national stage.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to help curate the end-of-project exhibition and film festival in 2025. This exhibition will showcase the documentary and the collective heritage we’ve uncovered together.

Join us on this journey to document and celebrate the memories and history of going to the pictures in Inverclyde!

Our Film Heritage Group will be starting in August 2024 at Greenock’s Dutch Gable House. Get in touch using the contact form below to register your interest and find out more information.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
